Dear vExperts,
As VMware gurus, you exemplify the community values of innovating, contributing insights and helping fellow VMware users. We, at Ravello Systems, deeply share your love of virtualization. We would like to recognize and applaud you with a small token of our appreciation. With VMworld around the corner, we are excited to announce the VMware on AWS VIP Pass for vExperts which includes...
- A $1200 voucher (which in real usage means if you had say 2 VMs with total of 4 vCPU & 8GB RAM they would have cost $0.30 per hour so you can run them for 4000 hours on AWS or Google Cloud using this pass). This is in the form of $100 monthly use-it-or-lose-it credit to your Ravello account for 12 months ie from Sept 2014 to Aug 2015. It's non-transferable and meant for non-commercial usage. So, what would you do with it? For starters:
- Play with nested virtualization (ahhh, the pure thrill of running your vmdk directly on AWS)
- Burst to AWS when you need more VMware environments (yup, same VMs, same networking except its “up there”)
- Run your hypervisor home labs or training labs on AWS and tinker with new features, or different networking and security configs without stuffing your garage with more hardware. We already run KVM on AWS, and ESXi is (hopefully) coming soon
- Run your multi-node OpenStack lab environments on AWS, and maybe even fancy it up with Openstack continuous integration (ha, who knew a public cloud would help you build your private cloud?!)
- Provide feedback on our nested virtualization technology and possible use cases
- A fun scooter so you can be a truly agile vExpert and zip around VMworld this year and later in your office
- A cool t-shirt saying: Migration is for the birds. My VMs are nested.
While we would really love to extend this to each and every vExpert out there, the fact is we are a fairly young company and have to pay AWS for every hour of capacity you consume. So we are getting started with a limited roll-out of this program and sending you individual invitations on Twitter. Please respond to our tweet to accept your invite. Once you accept, if you are attending VMworld we will setup your account and give you a test drive in person. If you are not attending we will email you the details. In case you (or your vExpert buddy) didn’t get an invite on Twitter, just tweet us @ravellosystems to add your name or your vExpert buddy’s name to our waitlist and we will work hard on expanding the program and getting you a VIP pass as soon as we possibly can
Meanwhile, if you are curious about Ravello, you could just start with our 2 week free trial right now.
Cheers,
Shruti
